The account is with FxPro

This site links to an account with FxPro, an international broker. This page describes what that account is, what a CFD is, and what a reader should check before opening one. It is not a sales page and this site is not the broker.

The same register checks this site teaches, applied to the broker itself

Before opening an account with any broker, a reader should check the legal entity named in the client agreement and the regulator it names. The FxPro group operates through several regulated entities, authorised by the FCA in the United Kingdom, by CySEC in Cyprus and by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas. Which entity serves a client depends on the country of residence and is named in the client agreement.

The reader should search that regulator's own register to confirm the entity's status. A register entry shows that the entity is authorised for the activities listed; it does not guarantee that the client will not lose money. The client agreement should state which entity is the counterparty to the account and where complaints would go.

A crypto CFD and an owned coin on a licensed local venue are different products

FxPro offers cryptocurrencies as CFDs, which are price contracts. A client does not receive coins in a wallet; the client has an agreement on the price of the coin. An owned coin on a licensed local venue is a different product: the client holds the asset, and the venue is licensed by the Bangko Sentral for that service.

The records to check are different. For a CFD, the reader checks the broker's entity and regulator. For a coin purchase, the reader checks the venue's licence on the Bangko Sentral's list. A CFD is a leveraged product and carries a high risk of losing the money deposited; owning a coin carries the risk that the coin loses value.

What to read in the client agreement and the risk warning before an account is opened

The client agreement names the entity, the regulator, and the terms of the account. The reader should read the risk warning: CFDs are leveraged and carry a high risk of losing the money deposited. Negative balance protection applies to all clients, and client money is held separately from the company's own funds.

Retail leverage limits differ by regulating entity, and the client agreement will state which limits apply. The platforms offered are MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader, a browser platform and a mobile app; a practice account exists. The reader should understand how a CFD works before depositing money.

FxPro is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines and holds no licence from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. An account is opened with a company regulated outside the Philippines - the group is authorised by the FCA in the United Kingdom and CySEC in Cyprus - so a resident deals with a foreign firm and the protections of a locally licensed one do not apply. Nothing on this site is investment advice.

A trading account with an international broker

Opening an account means agreeing to a contract

The account is with FxPro, an international broker offering CFDs on currencies, metals, indices, shares and crypto. A CFD is an agreement on a price; no asset is delivered and nothing is registered in your name. CFDs are leveraged and carry a high risk of losing the money deposited.
